Worlds to Become a Veritable Gym
Fest

The 2010 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will be a tremendous happening,
both for the competitors and for the thousands of fans who will make their way
to Rotterdam to attend the competition.
From 16th to 24th October 2010, Rotterdam’s extensive Ahoy complex will be
nearly completely dedicated to gym sports. While the world’s best gymnasts will
be battling it out among themselves in the main arena (the Ahoy Sports Palace),
a great number of side events will be offered in the adjacent halls and
conference centre from 12th October onwards (i.e. before the competition even
kicks off).
From the centrally located Ahoy Plaza, a stylish plaza which will feature
several information and promotion stands as well as large food court where
visitors to the world championships will be able to have a drink or quick bite
in between competitions, visitors will have a choice of where to go. They may go
to the arena to watch the competition, or alternatively they may go to one of
the conference rooms to attend a workshop, or to Exercise Square, where they can
do a little jumping, dancing or gymnastics themselves if they feel like some
action.
The Organising Committee is doing its utmost to ensure that the Rotterdam Worlds
live up to their motto, ‘Fantastic Gymnastics’. Both the gymnastics on display
and the atmosphere in the arena should be superb. At the same time, the Royal
Dutch Gymnastics Federation is using this opportunity to showcase the breadth
and variety of gym sports by allowing visitors to take part in all sorts of
activities offered by Dutch gymnastics clubs. The venue for these activities
will be Exercise Square, which will be dubbed ‘Fantastic Gymnastics Gym Plaza’
for the duration of the event. Thanks to all these side events, a visit to the
2010 World Championships will be a great day out, on which you may find yourself
not just watching elite gymnastics, but engaging in some sort of gymnastics-type
activity yourself or learning the latest developments in your favourite gym
sport. Don’t miss it!
